Complementary counterparts
Reading articles on the internet is inconvenient. A printed magazine is published so infrequently that it isn’t suitable as a news channel. The disadvantages of the two communication channels can be turned into advantages.
It is easy to list the contrasts of a print vs. an online magazine: Print enables individual articles, a variety of stories, extensive, in-depth coverage, plus impressive graphics. Online, meanwhile, enables multi-level text and concise news. A printed magazine is unidirectional, while an online magazine is interactive with channels for discussions and search functions. Print magazines have a slower publishing pace, while the speed of their online counterparts give them an edge.
Ideally, these two types of magazines support each other. An online magazine is the best channel for quick news, and a print magazine can provide more background to the news. On the other hand, an online magazine is a good channel for offering additional information about an article in a print magazine. An online magazine can also include links to e.g. the company’s web site and thus boost marketing and sales.
